Brief description

Beautiful hiking trail to the Hutwisch, which offers a wonderful view from the observation tower to Schneeberg and Neusiedler See.

Description

The quiet spa town of Bad Schönau is the starting point for this hiking trail in the Bucklige Welt. At the beginning of the hike, there are numerous places to stop for refreshments; directly on the path lie the Cafe Restaurant Geier and the Gasthof Koder.

At 896 m elevation is an observation tower on the Hutwisch, an important mountain on the border with Burgenland. You reach the platform of the observation tower via 102 steps, which offers a view over the magnificent mountain panorama including Lower Austria’s highest mountain, the Schneeberg, all the way to the Burgenland Neusiedler See. The view is worth it!
