HACKER HAUS - Museum of Contemporary History
PERMANENT EXHIBITION
"The Hacker family -
Jewish life in Bad Erlach"
What is Judaism?
The first room of the permanent exhibition deals with this fascinating question. It vividly illustrates how Judaism is defined and what makes it special. Religious festivals and customs are brought to life in film clips and extensive 3D reconstructions invite visitors to explore the synagogues of Lower Austria. An interactive community map allows visitors to immerse themselves in the Jewish past of the entire Bucklige Welt-Wechselland region and research the places and people themselves. A special object is the Hacker family's shofar, a ram's horn blown in Judaism on certain festive days, the sounds of which can also be experienced acoustically.
