Wehrkirche Bad Schönau
Church, Historical sites
Description
At the time, Bad Schönau was fortified with a triple rampart, which also included the vicarage. A well in the nave, slit-like embrasures, concealed entrances to the upper storey and a massive sacristy door with axe marks are evidence of the defensive strength, which was last demonstrated to the Kurucs in 1708. The former cast iron bay window no longer exists.
You can see into the church through the vestibule.
Free guided tours of the fortified church take place every Friday at 16:00.
For special guided tours, please contact the parish.
