Katzelsdorf was first mentioned in 1183 as Cazelinisdorf. The village is known far beyond the region for its sights. The village church, the Redemptorist monastery with the Klemens Maria Hofbauer grammar school and Eichbüchl Castle, the founding site of the 2nd Republic with the participation of Dr. Karl Renner.
