Marktgemeinde Pitten

Description

Art and culture community Pitten

The old market town lies at the entrance to the charming Pitten Valley, surrounded by wooded hills. Pitten is known as the "Lower Austrian Merano" due to its favorable climate. Well-kept avenues, parks and wonderful hiking trails invite you to take leisurely strolls through nature.

Enchanting cultural diversity

The Schlossberg with the baroque parish church built in 1731, the mountain and rock church is Pitten's landmark. From the battlements of the churchyard wall you can see the Hohe Wand, the Schneeberg, the Rax, the Semmering and the Hochwechsel. The old rock church with frescoes from the 11th century is particularly worth seeing, as is the baroque vicarage built in the 17th century with its beautiful two-storey arcaded courtyard, as well as the adjacent vicarage church. For some years now, Pitten has had a very special highlight: the rose garden in front of the vicarage is the second largest rose garden in Lower Austria with over 2,500 roses and offers wonderful places to linger. The annual Rose Festival in June is truly a "feast for all the senses". The history trail "Zeitsprünge 4000" connects the most important archaeological finds in a historical journey through time on a leisurely walk through the village.

Well-managed, family-run gastronomy with an interplay of creative cuisine and home cooking ensures the physical well-being of guests and invites them to return.

Pitten Classics

Once a year, the Pitten Class ics take place in unusual venues: in the baroque mountain church or in the cozy garden of the GH Unger. Top-class and well-known artists come to the village to perform.
