Bromberger Hexenweg - Verhexter Hör-Erlebnis-Bewegungs-Weg
Description
The 3 km long trail begins in Bromberg an der Au and runs along the Schlattenbach stream. Seven information boards provide general information about the persecution of witches in text and pictures, but especially about the fate of Afra Schickh. The herbalist from Schlatten was burned as a witch in Wiener Neustadt in 1671. In 2019, the Witches' Trail was expanded into the Bewitched Audio Experience Trail.
With the addition of a children's audio guide via a free smartphone app and motor skills stations, an informative leisure activity for the whole family has now been created. Five attractive, natural exercise stations have been set up at various locations along the almost 3 km-long Witches' Trail. These are mainly "motor skills equipment" that challenge and promote dexterity and mobility.
By children for children
The text and pictures for the guide were written by Bydgoszcz author Elisabeth Daniel, and were discussed by two children from Bydgoszcz. The audio guide aims to give young visitors an insight into the topic of "witches": It tells of life around 400 years ago, when many things that we can explain scientifically today were attributed to evil spirits, devils, demons and witches. Old, traditional sayings, nursery rhymes and songs in which witches are still alive are presented. We also encounter the fairytale witch and hear what great poets had to say about witches.
In Bromberg, you can also visit the legendary Hexenbrünnl behind the mountain church.
