Description

The homely atmosphere is something highly valued in the museum village. Take a seat at the parlor table of the Fuchsenhausstock or dream of the rattling of the mill wheel on the rushing stream in the mill... Idyllic spots invite you to linger and berry bushes and herbs to taste. The numerous direct marketers and culinary specialties of the region are integrated into the Genussstadel. Various seminars such as Simperl weaving, broom making, etc. can also be booked in this building.

You will find exciting stories about the buildings dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries, which have been painstakingly restored and given a new home here.
The rebuilt Tannbauer farm, the Bürgerspital and the regular events are particularly worth mentioning.

The Tannbauer
The 16th century farmhouse was demolished in the municipality of Krumbach, below the castle, and professionally rebuilt over several years in the museum village. The "migration" of the building was preceded by an archaeological and architectural history investigation. The "Tannbauer" turned out to be the home of a 17th century market judge. The farm's outbuildings were probably used as a collection point for the subjects' taxes to the lordship. There are numerous details to marvel at that show the eventful history of the "Tannbauer", including floor finds, the smoking room and the brick-built granary.

The Bürgerspital
The Bürgerspital building, also from the 16th century, is also located on the museum grounds. It was built under the lord of the castle, Erasmus von Puchheim. It houses the reception area, a multimedia show and a permanent exhibition depicting the life of the rural population in the Bucklige Welt since the 16th century. Two figures, the landlord Erasmus von Puchheim and a farmer, provide visitors with an entertaining insight into the relationship between subjects and landlords, the changes in agriculture and the lives of the nobility.

Multimedia in the museum village
A modern multimedia guide will accompany visitors through all the buildings. It offers an overview tour, interviews with experts (archaeologists, building researchers), stories from contemporary witnesses, old photographs and background information on the museum objects.

There has also been a historical show brewery since 2019.
