Description
A brief history of the castle:
Seebenstein Castle was built between 1180 and 1230 and was owned by the Formbacher counts. From 1403 the castle belonged to the Königsberger brothers, who carried out significant renovations. In 1824 the castle was sold to Prince Johannes of Liechtenstein, who romanticized it and had parts removed. Today the castle is privately owned and houses a museum with about 40 rooms, art objects, paintings, Marian statues, and a weapons collection. Notable features are the keep and the castle chapel with a triangular floor plan.
