Details for: Circular trail K6 Schauerberg via "Großer Stein" Schneeweißhof - Sonnleiten-Schauerberg

Brief description

Approximately two-hour circular hike south of Edlitz over Schaueregg, Großer Stein, Schneeweißhof, and Sonnleiten.

Description

A visit to the beautiful late Gothic fortified church in Edlitz as well as the interesting and informative introductory display of the Fortified Churches Route is a must. The Fortified Churches Route "Bucklige Welt" starts in Edlitz and passes by the beautiful fortified churches of Krumbach, Hochneukirchen, Bad Schönau, Kirchschlag, Lichtenegg, Hollenthon, Wiesmath, Hochwolkersdorf, Bromberg, Lanzenkirchen, and Katzelsdorf. On the circular route to Schauerberg, you already walk part of the Fortified Churches Route. Via Schauerberg, you are approaching Thomasberg and the route partly overlaps with the Fortified Churches cycling route. You can therefore easily extend this round to a hike to Thomasberg. Those who prefer to return to Edlitz follow the circular route via the "Großer Stein" to Schneeweißhof, from where it goes over Sonnleiten to Schaueregg. Back in town, after a long hike, you can relax and recharge at the inn "Grüner Baum".

Route description Circular trail K6 Schauerberg via "Großer Stein" Schneeweißhof - Sonnleiten-Schauerberg

The route starts in the town center at the community center, heading east towards the market. Then turn left along the federal road following the Edlitzbach stream into the district of Schauerberg. After about 1.6 kilometers, turn left onto Schauerberg. Straight ahead past the water reservoir, the road leads to a forest path along the stream. After a right curve, the path leads to a forest road; here turn left and at the next opportunity turn right again. The left fork leads to Schneeweißhof. Now follow the road to the right. After about 900 meters, make a sharp right turn. The road leads through a curve to an intersection where you again go right along the stream. Upon reaching the T-junction, turn left to return to Schauerberg. The federal road to the right leads back to Edlitz.
