Brief description

The Eichbüchl Circular Hiking Route is a comfortable circular hiking route. It leads from Katzelsdorf along the Leitha and past the most beautiful points of Eichbüchl, such as the castle.

Description

The Eichbüchl Circular Hiking Route is part of the Katzelsdorf-Bad Erlach stage of the Wiener Alpenbogen Trail. On this beautiful 8 km long circular hike, we explore Eichbüchl without difficulties or steep climbs. This district of Katzelsdorf lies nestled between the Leitha and the Rosalien Mountains and has a lot to offer. A highlight of the route is Eichbüchl Castle, which dates back to the 14th century. At the Eichbüchl viewpoint, you can admire this building from a different perspective with the Vienna Alps Viewer. Food and drink are well catered for, as the route passes numerous Heurigen and restaurants. A visit to the castle restaurant in Katzelsdorf, one of the Heurigen, or the gourmet restaurant Görg is worthwhile.

Route description Eichbüchl Circular Hiking Route (KA 2)

This route description refers to the start through Augasse. Since it is a circular hiking route, a start in the opposite direction is also possible.

From the starting point at the castle, turn right onto Mühlgasse to cross the river. At the next but one intersection, turn right into Augasse. Augasse leads to a path along the river and eventually onto a paved road (Burkhardtweg). Follow the road to the left continuing on Leithafurth and Furthweg, crossing the Leitha, until reaching Eichbüchl. The path continues on a paved road to Nepomuk Chapel, where you turn right (Am Weinberg). At the next intersection, go straight onto Gutenbacherweg. After a while, make a sharp left at the intersection; the path leads down into the village, where you turn left onto Eichbüchlstraße.

Passing the restaurant Görg, immediately turn right again onto Dr. Karl Renner Weg, which leads to a gravel road. Follow this path, which first makes a right and then a left turn. The path ends on an asphalted section (Im Prest), leading to Eichbüchlstraße. Here turn right, follow the road until you reach the Heurige Döller. Then continue left along a small stream. Keep right here to reach Kellerstraße. After a left turn, cross the Leitha again, and Mühlgasse leads back to the castle.
