Description

The leisure and sports community of Lanzenkirchen is part of the Bucklige Welt - Thermal Communities region. On the Katzelsdorf-Bad Erlach stage of the "Am Wiener Alpenbogen" hiking trail, there are 3 local trails starting in Lanzenkirchen. They invite the pleasure hiker to discover the scenic diversity of the thermal communities. One of these 3 local trails starting in Lanzenkirchen is the Ofenbacher Weg Lanzenkirchen-Rosalia. As its name suggests, the 6.2 km long path leads through the district of Ofenbach from Lanzenkirchen up to the ridge of the Rosalia to the Tobiaskreuz. The hike is steadily slightly uphill but does not require above-average fitness or pose major difficulties. On the contrary: the hike offers the chance for peace and relaxation with natural forest paths and beautiful panoramic views of Semmering, Rax, and Hohe Wand. Those who want to strengthen themselves before the hike will find numerous places to stop in Lanzenkirchen and Ofenbach, which also invite you to linger with culinary delights.

Route description Ofenbacher Weg-Lanzenkirchen-Rosalia (LA 3)

The start is at the municipal office, from where you turn left into Schulgasse, which goes straight ahead over Ofenbachweg past the village church towards Rosalia. The Leitha is crossed, the road is followed and at the intersection with the roundabout you go straight ahead, reaching the Ofenbach main street. It goes through the district of Ofenbach and further towards Melberleiten. 1 km after leaving the village, follow the signpost pointing uphill to the left, which stands shortly after a pond on the left side of the path. The path now leads through the forest to a forest road with a magnificent panoramic view. Keep sharp right and at the next intersection (513m) turn left. On the distinctive clearing, turn left again.
