Details for: Path to Krumbach Castle

Brief description

Hike from Bad Schönau to the historic Krumbach Castle, located at 700 meters above sea level.

Description

The starting point of this hike is the centrally located village square in Bad Schönau, easily reachable from numerous hotels and accommodation establishments of the spa community. Passing the Hubertus Chapel and the Reisenbauer Chapel, you ascend gently and comfortably, without major difficulties. While descending through the Haselgraben again, you enjoy the quiet nature and fresh forest air. At the end of the hike, you climb uphill once more. The ascent is worthwhile as you finally reach the impressive structure of Krumbach Castle. The year 1250, the consecration date of the castle chapel, provides an approximate indication of the time of construction of the currently existing castle and has partly had castle character since then.

From the castle, there are many hiking options, for example on a regional route of the Wiener Alpenbogen trail.
