Description
From the Hungarian border town of Kőszeg, the Marienweg leads via Lockenhaus at the foot of the Geschriebenstein through Middle Burgenland. On lightly used secondary roads, you reach Langeck in Burgenland and shortly afterward Deutsch Gerisdorf. After Bubendorf and past Pilgersdorf, the path leads to Steinbach in Burgenland. Shortly thereafter, at the "Radigundenstein", you cross the border into Lower Austria. The approximately 15-meter high rock formation is named after Countess Radigunde, the lady of Kirchschlag. It is said to have been her favorite spot. From here, you hike about 2 kilometers on a marked trail to Kirchschlag.

Route description Marienweg stage Lockenhaus - Kirchschlag in the Bucklige Welt
We start in Lockenhaus and walk through the village towards the west. Over Am Eilbach and the main road, we reach Langeck. We head north and walk through Deutsch-Gerisdorf and Bubendorf past Pilgersdorf along the Zöbernbach through Steinbach to Kirchschlag in the Bucklige Welt.
Directions
From Vienna take A2, A3 and S31 to Burgenland Str./B50 in Burgenland. Follow Burgenland Str./B50 until you reach Hauptstraße/B56 in Lockenhaus.
From Graz take A2 to the Lafnitztal junction in Burgenland, take exit 111-Lafnitztal on A2. Take B50 to Hauptstraße/B56 in Lockenhaus.
Parking
Parking spaces are available at Lockendorf castle.
Travel by train or rail replacement service from Wr. Neustadt to Mattersburg station. From there, take bus line 1824 to Lockendorf.
